Wow I feel Modern

Posted in The President at 6:58 pm by lori

Had no real idea what a blog was till now.  I heard about it on a tv show I watch but never seen a blog before.  Since I only have a short time today because I have way too many e-mails to go through (part of the job of being president), I’ll just finish by saying…..membership is now up to 40 and still growing.  Slowly but surely we are getting the word out to our community that we are here.  This center will not fail….there are too many committeed women on board. Just wish there were more hours in the day.  After planning for events and then attending the events the days are just flying by.  The best part of it all is seeing all the wonderful friends I have made along the way and also to see other people making new friendships.  Everyone who is joing us on our journey are so thrilled that they have a place to meet and develope new relationships.  OK, have to go….I’ll be back again.  Lori (President of the Lillith Grove Women’s Center) PS….sorry this was the first draft I saved and didn’t want to waste it.  OK I think I have this blog thing down….yeah me!

President of Lillith Grove

Well everyone I am new to this BLOG thing and not sure how it works.  Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.  My name is Lori McNair and I am the President of the Lillith Grove Women’s Center.

In October of 2005 I was browsing the internet and came accross the Rainbowgrlz yahoo group.  What an opening of doors this was for me.  I knew no one in Delaware other then my partner.  I responded to an invite for a potluck dinner being held at Lynn Sheridans house in Bear, DE.  I met some really nice women there and some of us started talking about a dream we have had to be part of a womens center.  After numerous conversations and the generousity of Lynn to use her house to try and start up a center we have really put things in motion.  We have our Board Members in place.  We are getting our Incorporation going and filing for non profit status.  We are working hard to plan events at the center and also offsight.  We are also working hard to get the building reconstructed so we can have a recreation area for members to kick back and have some fun.  Membership is growing and word is making its way to people.  What I have been telling people is…. come and see the place and meet the women.  Its not a meat market, people are not coming there to search for their one true love (although who knows, that may too happen)  People are coming because its a peaceful setting, nice women who are looking for friendships and a sense of belonging. We have all grown very close and I feel I have made the kind of good friends I needed in my life.  OK well, I have to finish up some things for the Center.  Hope this works!
